Smurf Picture: Thanks Papa, but I’ll have a slice of the one on the left.
Yours looks a little… plastic.

I trudged through pouring rain without an umbrella to get my copy of The Smurfs DVD Season 1 Vol 1 from Best Buy this evening. I watched two episodes, which I found was just enough nostalgia for one night. I loved this show as as a young child (as if you can’t tell). The pace, humor, and adventure captivated my 5 year old brain. Watching it again tonight, for the first time in at least 20 years, I can see why, 5 year old me loved this cartoon. I actually laughed out loud twice, which surprised me. I don’t know, I found if funny when Grouchy shot up his fists, annoyed at a butterfly when it flew past.
About the DVD
The Menu screen looks fantastic and I love the full version of the theme song that is played. I paused here for a bit, singing. As far as the episodes themselves I was happy to find that the animation look great. Everything was very bright and clear. My only critique is the audio is quite low. I had to turn the volume up full blast to enjoy it. Overall I’m pretty pleased with the DVD.

884 Human Smurfs in one place. It’s a new record set by a group of university students in the UK last Monday. They completely shattered the previous record of 451 students. Wow there’s a Guinness World Record for everything! This article has a good write up.
